Kimetsu No Yaiba Storyline
What makes it so popular? If you already read Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, you will know that this manga tell the stories of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who make a living by selling charcoal in the Taisho-era of Japan. His peaceful life was completely shattered when a demon slaughter his entire family. His sister, Nezuko, was the only survivor but she has been transformed into demon herself. From here on Tanjiro begins his journey in finding the demon who kill his family and find a way to cure his sister. He became the demon slayer himself and experience many things throughout life.
Tanjiro carry her now-demonic sister with him in a basket to avoid sunlight. During their way, Nezuko, always try to protect his brother though she was half-demon herself. On their way, Tanjiro and Nezuko met Zenitsu dan Inosuke, a fellow Demon Slayer Corps, which help them in accomplishing mission and investigating the demon king whereabout.
In the end, Tanjiro has accomplished his main goals which are turning Nezuko back into human being and defeat the Demon King, Muzan. This is not without any cost. In chapter 204, we can see that Tanjiro has lost one of his eyesight and part of his limb after becoming human. His eyesight and movement was limited. But, in one of the panel, Tanjiro and Nezuko was shown to be living together with Zenitsu and Inosuke, thus there was no problems for them to live normally. Some matters were also concluded in this chapter, such as the disbanding of Demon Slayer Corps. In my opinion, this chapter shows the true end of Kimetsu no Yaiba. However, we were enticed by the last panel in the manga which shows the modern city of Japan.
We can say that this is a hopeful ending. In the last chapter, chapter 205, titled ‘A Light That Shines Through Time’, we could see that everyone has reincarnated and lived their lives in the modern era. As their descendant, they somewhat appear more-like their predecessor. Tanjiro was reincarnated into Kamado Sumihiko, a 16 year old high schooler with parkour ability. Nezuko reincarnated into Agatsuma Touko, a high-spirited school girl in love with Kamado Kanata, Sumihiko’s older brother.
Several characters has fulfill the promise made in their previous life such as Mitsuri’s and Iguro’s descendants who seems to be married and opening a diner together. We can also see a reincarnated Sanemi has reunited with his brother. However, there are two characters still alive from the original time era, such as Kiriya and Yushiro. As closure, final panel shows Tanjiro’s earring and katana being kept as family heirloom and there is picture of Tanjiro with his friends, looks victorious and happy.
This final chapter has tied up many loose ends of the story but at the same time, it left some room for possible spin-off. Which, hopefully, be released sometime soon.
